Pale waves / Artist of the week (7/11/17)

Hello everybody, today I am back with the latest in my ‘Artist of the week’ series. Of course, this series is the one where I share with you an artist I have been loving over the past week in less than 400 words. I’m happy to say this week’s artist of the week is the fantastic ‘Pale waves’.

I’m sure a lot of you will already be aware of Pale waves, however, if you aren’t then let me introduce them…  Pale waves are a four piece alternative band from Manchester that have only released three singles to date. They are signed to my favorite record label Dirty hit and have worked closely with members of the 1975 to produce their music and accompanying visuals.

Their debut single ‘There’s a honey’ was released back in February of this year and has racked up a fantastic 2.8 million streams! Like their label friends The 1975 They really do play around styles incorporating an 80’s inspired vibe with the use of dreamy synths. The song is one of the best debuts’s I have ever heard because I feel they have already nailed down their distinct sound and style.

Their follow up single ‘Television Romance’ is again just bursting with 80’s vibes the use of light guitars mixed with lead singer Heathers Heavenly vocals just make for the best addition to their growing discography.

Their latest single ‘New years eve’ came out just under a week ago and is my favorite track from them thus far! It opens with the first couple of lines simply accompanied by a soft synth before hitting you with that iconic bouncy rhythmic guitar that has become a well-established staple of the bands sound. The track has a sort of warmth to it that is hard to describe however if you listen to the track then you will instantly understand what I mean!

I was actually lucky enough to have caught them on their recent UK tour, I saw them at Komedia in Brighton and It was fantastic, the atmosphere was just incredible, the band have such likability and that really comes out when they were on stage. I honestly urge everyone to go and see them live if you get the chance because they are amazing!

Thier three-track EP ‘New Years EP’ is due to drop in January, you can pre-order a transparent red vinyl copy of it via Dirty hits website here:

They have also just kicked off their US tour and I know that a lot of people from the US read my posts so like I said I really do urge anyone who gets the chance to see them live to do so!
