Hey guys, I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve got a proper post out, I have been a bit preoccupied working with Neverworld over the past couple of weeks on thier socials which has been a lot of fun but today we are here to talk about something else that’s very exciting.

If you follow me or Into The Grooves on Instagram then you will know that myself and Mollie Yates have been working on a charity event to raise money for the ‘My Body Back’ campaign, but a little more on what they do in a minute.

The gig is taking place on the 28th of this month at Cafe 1001 in Shoreditch we have got a lineup of 5 amazing all-female/female-fronted bands as well as a selection of artists coming down to sell their artwork & products so it’s going to be a very fun celebration of women generally as well as in the creative industries.

So let me tell you a little more about the charity and the work that they do. My Body Back is a project that helps to support women who have experienced sexual abuse/assault to recover as well as learn to love thier bodies and embrace thier sexuality again. They have clinics in both London and Scotland where they offer free cervical screenings, STD tests as well as councilling and groups where women can connect with others who have had similar experiences. The work they do is crucial which made choosing them an absolute no brainer for an event celebrating and showcasing women. I highly recommend having a look at their website for a full rundown of what they do mybodybackproject.com

Onto the lineup, we’ve got People in Museums, VENUS, Nadia Sheikh, Prima Queen and our headliners VALERAS as well as a DJ set from the absolute legend that is GIRLI. Every day this week I am going to be giving you an introduction to each of the acts staring today with VENUS.

Venus are a 5-piece all girl rock band from Leeds, advocating women in alternative music, and a safer, diverse music scene.

Aiming to bring a positive energy of feminism and activism through hard hitting rock and punk influenced music, they are bursting onto the Leeds music scene with more drive than ever. Performing alongside bands such as Stealing Sheep at Her Music PR & Brighter Sound’s Her Fest, Venus are consistently marking impressions on some of the most influential bands of the year.

Have a listen to their debut single Deranged:

Despite having only released two singles to date their energetic trademark energy is instantly recognisable and gets crowds going without fail. Here’s a little look at what you can expect to see from them on the 28th at the fantastic Cafe 1001

We absolutely cannot wait to have them with us, so grab a ticket now, all links are down below they are £5 in advance and £8 on the door! RSVP on the facebook event so we know you’re coming. We’ll see you there 🙂
