nto The Grooves had the absolute pleasure of being invited back to Neverworld festival for the third year in a row and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
This years lineup sported some of their biggest names yet with headliners The Vaccines and Craig David sitting at the top of the bill. Thursday afternoon saw thousands of keen glitter smothered, facncy dress wearing festival goers decend on sleepy John Darlings farm ready to party.
Mystery Jets served as the headliners on the Circus stage Thursday night to a very excited and expectant crowd they even treated us to their brand new single, ‘screwdriver‘ a heavier, more powerful song than we are used to. A super strong perfomance which fully got everyone in the mood and excited for what the rest of the weekend had to offer.
They smashed it with their choice of DJ’s this year with appearances from the likes of Craig Charles, Grandmaster Flash, Mr Jam, Shy FX and even The Streets Mike skinner to name just a few.
The one and only Tom Grennan received a hero’s welcome on his return to Neverworld having also performed for the past two years. Despite the heat I’ve never seen such a pumped-up crowd, he always goes down a treat with at treat at Neverworld so who knows maybe he could be 2020’s headliner? Just to make it even more magical he brought along the mates in the form of a group of gospel singers, such a special performance.
The Vaccines absolutely smashed their set, while I went into it a little unsure they’re one of those bands that have so many big tracks you didn’t know were theirs, frontman Justin Young brought so much character to the stage making them a band I’d head out to see again.
Neverworld is much more than just the music, with activities to keep both kids and adults entertained you can guarantee you’ll never get bored. Bushcraft, poetry, silent yoga, glitter wrestling, beach games, paint fights and even a cinema are just a few of the activities on offer.
Sports Team were my artist of the festival with a hugely energetic performance at the Circus stage on Saturday night, clearly proving their ability to be a headline act in the future.
The nicest guy in music Craig David pulled the weekend to a close bringing his TS5 party to the mainstage. Absolute back to back hits, mixing his own in with covers making it the ultimate sing-along party undoubtedly the biggest crowd of the weekend made up of young children right up to the oldest dreamers. You genuinely got a sense he loved every second up there which is something you don’t necessarily get with acts of his notoriety but he just came across a truly sweet character. Love love love
Neverworld, we didn’t want to leave! Thank you for another unforgetable year and we’ll see you in 2020
